Care of Incision at Home With Dressing
To prevent infection and to keep the incision clean, use the following steps to change the dressing daily.
Wash your hands Remove the old dressing and dispose. Cleanse your incision gently with soap and water, rinse and pat dry- do not rub. Apply a new light dressing and tape in place. Wash hands again. notify office if you notice any new or unsual drainage on dressing, any new lumps or swelling at the incision site, increasing pain or redness of incision, prolonged fever greater than 102 degrees.
