Injection Information

As part of your treatment, you have received a corticosteroid injection with some anesthetic.  The medications injected were Lidocaine or Marcaine, a quick acting numbing medication and Celestone or Depomedrol, a long lasting corticosteroid that will help decrease inflammation.

The corticosteroid may take up to a week to take full effect and over a period of time decrease your inflammation.  The numbing medication will wear off in a few hours.  When this occurs, you may experience pain, warmth or redness in the joint injected.  If this occurs, you may apply ice to the affected area and use a pain reliever such as Tyelenol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, or a prescription anti-inflammatory medication.  You should also rest the joint that was injected.

If your symptoms are severe or you have concerns about a reaction, please call our office.
