Instructions for Surgery

The surgery center will call you the business day before your surgery with your surgery time, pre-operative instructions and what time to report to the hospital.

You will need to have a pre-operative history and physical examination with testing. This must be done two weeks before your surgery. Take the prescription for the history/physical/testing with you to this appointment. You are responsible for calling to schedule your pre-operative physical and testing.

Avoid taking aspirin, aspirin-containing products or anti-inflammatory medications for seven (7) days prior to your surgery as these may promote excess bleeding.

Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery. This includes water, gum, candy, ice etc.

You will need to have an adult drive you home from the hospital and stay with you for the first 24 hours after your surgery. Please make these arrangements in advance.

Make a post-operative appointment with Dr. Tao for 7-10 days from the date of surgery.

Make a post-operative appointment with physical therapy ______ days after your surgery at a facility convenient to you.

Bring any special equipment or braces with you to the hospital on the day of surgery. Special: __________________________________
